Are you taking advantage of 2-player mode? I’m not talking about video games! I’m talking about opening credit cards with your spouse or significant other. You can basically earn points twice as fast if you learn this points and miles trick!
When you open cards in 2-player mode, only 1 person is opening a card at a time. You open a card but do NOT add your “player 2” as an authorized user. Instead, after opening a card and earning the sign-up bonus, YOU refer them to the same card to put in their name. This way, you both have access to the benefits of the card, but you each have a card in your own name. You have also both earned the ability to receive sign-up bonus points, plus referral points.
An example would be:
- You open up our favorite starter card, meet the minimum spend, and the standard sign-up bonus of 60K points is credited to your account.
- Next, refer your player 2 to their own card. They will meet the minimum spend and earn the standard sign-up bonus of 60K points. You will also earn a referral bonus of 10K points.
- Now, rather than just having 60K points, you and your player 2 have a total of 130K points to use on flights, hotel stays, or a combination of the two!
One other tip- you can combine points with your spouse since you live in the same household! Combining these points just takes a quick phone call to the bank. So then all points are together on one person’s account to make the points even easier to use!
