Travel days with kids can be long and having a few travel-sized games in your bag for those long moments when everyone needs a break from screens is a life-saver. These are all games we have and love in our house and all of them would easily fit in a backpack!
Qwirkle: This one is definitely for bigger kids (maybe 6/7 and up) but is a great strategy game!
Spot It: My kids LOVE this one and we have played it in many baggage carousels while waiting for our bags to arrive. Kids of any age can play since it’s just identifying matching picture between different cards!
Bananagrams: My young elementary boys are just beginning to be good at word games but we come up with different letter and word games using the tiles (like flip a tile and name as many words as you can with that letter, make our own Scrabble/crossword together, etc).
Left Center Right: I played this one a lot in college with coins but this travel version is easy for kids to learn and a lot of fun.
Pass the Pigs: This game is really silly and the kids love holding the little pigs. We like to throw this one in our bag for outings to a coffee shop!
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza: This one might not be great in a quiet airport gate because my kids get LOUD when we play. But they love it and it has gotten us laughing more than any other game!
We are all for using screens as needed on travel days but games like this are perfect for those in-between moments when you need to connect and get a brain break from the stress of travel!
