One of our favorite ways to save on extra travel expenses that can not typically be covered by points is to use Capital One Miles! You can earn these miles by opening the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.
Any travel purchase that the bank codes as “travel” can be covered with the miles you have earned on the cards! We have used these miles to cover the costs of car rentals, AirBnB stays, and even Disney tickets (when purchased from the right site). Find out more about covering theme park tickets here!
Once you make a purchase on your card, you have up to 90 days from the purchase date to use your miles to cover any eligible travel purchases made with the card. It’s super easy to do! Just follow these steps:
- Log-in to your Capital One account online.
- Once logged-in, click on “View Rewards.”
- Scroll down and select “Cover Travel Purchases.”
- Next, select the travel purchase you would like to cover with miles. Even if you don’t have enough miles to cover the entire purchase, you can use what you have to cover a portion of the purchase! You will get to select the exact amount of a travel purchase you would like to cover. So, if you would like to save some miles for later use, you can do that too!
- Once you have selected the amount of miles you want to use to cover the purchase, those miles will be deducted from your account and Capital One will credit this to your statement. Remember, each mile is worth 1 cent when you do this, so this is the amount that will be taken off of your balance.
